I just got the Hercules 4-mix and when i plug it into virtual dj le, the soundcard works but i can't control anything through the controller. On the controller only two buttons light up (Deck A and Deck B) and none of the buttons effect what happens in vdj. Does anyone know what the problem may be because it is very frustrating.

Try updating both the drivers for the controller at Hercules' website and I'm not sure if that model has a built in sound card or not, but if you are using an external sound card or audio interface, try updating those drivers from the manufacturer's (the interface's) website....hope that helps..

I have the same problem and also can't find a solution for a month now.
I tried everything suggested on this forum...nothing worked.
Maybe it can't work with newer laptops because i use a HP dv6-6190 with an i7 processor, with some new hardware like usb 3.0
I'm not using the usb 3.0 ports and installed the latest Hercules drivers, and followed all instuctions (and more).
The only way it worked was with an installation of a virtual Windows XP (within Windows 7) but that's not what i want.
On other laptops it works fine (with Windows 7 or XP) but not on my brandnew HP !!
In Virtual DJ you can select the 4-MX as soundcard but will not do anything other.
Hopefully someone has a solution.

do you mean it isn't running with your le version? I would back up the rmx music database xml and playlist folder then uninstall the rmx version, then reinstall the 4mix version of le, paste you old database and playlist in the new virtual dj folder, and it should workwith all the previous information saved.
You probably can't use usb 3 so you are correct in using usb 2.

Yes that's what i mean, it isn't running on the LE version.
Let me say it again, this happens on a new laptop and no other controller or DJ software had been installed before.
All drivers are correct in the device manager, and it also shows up in LE as soundcard.
But that's all, no other button lights up (only deck A/B) so you can't use the controller.
The controller works fine on 3 other laptops.

If you are sure you have installed the 4MIX version on the laptop and not the RMX version, I don't know I am affraid, try contacting support

Try installing the latest firmware and drivers - Please see http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/Common%20Device%20Drivers.html for a link.
Also, make sure that there are no MIDI conflicts on your system: http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/midinotdetected.html
Make sure that you have the latest version of VirtualDJ LE for 4Mx installed from http://www.virtualdj.com/download/updates.html (As above, the older RMX Console Edition won't work with Hercules 4Mx. Each LE version will only work with the controller that it came with.)

To everyone for who VDJ LE 4-Mx doesn't seem to be able to use the controller part of the console,
- Go to the DJ Control Panel (in the Notification Area, near the clock)
- In the Advanced tab, make sure the MIDI Channel is set to 1-2

If any of these solutions work for either of you, post back which worked, so others may benefit.

nothing worked, but the last thing i have to do is check if there are midi conflicts.

now I'm having this problem, got a new laptop with windows8 works fine then all of a sudden becomes non responsive, lights stay on and music keeps playing, I already downloading the new drivers 2013_hdjs2, works fine with my old laptop windows vista

So, it works with Vista, but not with your new computer which has 8? You have tried everything in this thread? You have optimized your new computer? You say it works for awhile, but becomes unresponsive, is it always the same amount of time? Is this plugged into a usb 2 or 3 port? Do you always use the same port? Is it possible that these ports are going to sleep? Have you tried a different cable? You are sure you have the right drivers installed on the new machine? What I'm asking you is, what is different on these machines, because the software works. I know the OS is different, but I have seen VDJ work on Win 8.

yes I've done everything, use usb2 same port, works fine for awhile then all of a sudden stops working music still plays and lights stay on but controls don't work, contact support already told me about the new drivers did that, same problem, I tried to update my firmware by unplugging the back then holding down the mic on/off button until the screen pops up but it always says I have and old firmware, when I just updated it a few seconds ago, after that it works fine but then I have to do it all overs again the next time I plug it in

thanks to A Man and His Music, yes my ports where going to sleep disable them now everything is working fine, something support could of told me, saved my day thanks again

Thank the forum, everything I know, i've learned on this forum. Hope it holds up. I am concerned about the firmware update. I would check with Hercules forum to see if it is an issue.

yea Its doing it again, it works when it wants, cant have that, don't know what to do, done everything, had to use my old lap top works perfectly fine

If it tells you that it has the old firmware, then you have the old firmware. I don't care if you just updated, it did not take. Try it again, until it says you have the new firmware. If you have to, uninstall the controller, and start from the beginning.
