Topic: How do you stop a firewire drive from sleeping

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I know how to stop a USB drive from sleeping but I cant find a firewire option in Windows 7 Power settings. I have tried looking at the drive properties and computer management but cant find any setting to stop the external firewire drive from sleeping. Does anyone know the setting for this if there is one? Im guessing I will have to run another program that will write a small amount of data to the drive at some regular time intervals to stop it sleeping otherwise.

This is usually built into the firmware of the drive itself and cannot be changed from Windows.

Some manufacturers may provide a utility to change this along with other firmware options.

Please visit the manufacturer's website for further information.
