Hi I'm new to Virtual DJ so sorry if this is a dumb question...
I'm trying to create a recording of a mix, but when I mess up a transition or I just want to do a better one, I have to go right back to the beginning of my mix and play/record all the way through to get to the end so that I can have another go at mixing in the next record. Is there any way to avoid having to do this? I just want to cue the mix I have recorded so far at a point like a 30 seconds from the end and then mix in the next record again.

You can try using VDJ with multi-track recording software. Here's a free program that might work for you:
