Slightly Tractor Biased, but still good reading: http://www.digitaldjtips.com/2011/11/review-video-vestax-vci-400-dj-midi-audio-controller/
Note in the comments:
analogue mixer function is coming with an firmware update in 2012 ! as there is a new soundcard made by vestax inside they simply didnt get it ready in time with the driver etc.
For some reason Vestax is extremely pushing this device. Showing it far before release, touring shops before its release and releasing basic features after the release.
Nevertheless, it gets me exiting! :D

Wow!
Wouldn't mind owning one of those.

It's nice but it seems pretty stupid (to me) putting the two mic volume controls on the BACK
of the unit, and not having any mic EQ.

and on the 748393748392937475647th day god created vdj, and vdj gave us software capable of adjusting the mic eq in the software, and the woes of having no booth out were qwelled with a seperate soundcard such as that by gods immortal enemy native instruments in the shape of an audio 2, and mapping one of the gain knobs under a shift as you can use soft take over with "gain_slider", or even just using the volume control built onto the soundcard.
And yay they all rejoyced as they realized that god had indeed created a controller that was as perfect as mere mortals could handle at their stage of evolution... perhaps one day it would be bested but that day hath yet come, as the indudstry knows if they listen and give us everything we want in one go they will never make any money on upgrades in the future.
have faith groovin everything you are used to can be done, as the bible tells us "as it was written so shall it be done", loosly translated this means, is if you script it, it will be possible. you cant argue with that logic

But there are some faithful followers who prefereth the reliability and tactile nature of real hardware, so that
if thine software were to kicketh up its heels, thy party shall continueth without ado.
I think that it will eventually be possible to route at least one mic through one of the main mixer channels after the firmware upgrade.

LOL,
I just take two laptops to a gig, a real one and a netbook, I load up the netbook with vdj as a backup then if something happens it's grab the netbook, load a song on the move, I would literally drop it on the keypad of the laptop, kill the house mixer, plug in the soundcard, and change the sound settings in vdj, turn up the mixer and press play. I have never had to do it as I have never blue screened in that situation, but then I have never played clubs as much compared to my vinyl days only really once a month now, so less chances of it happening to most of you...

I've just read (on the Japanese Vestax support area) that Vestax controllers don't play nicely with Sony VAIO computers...
Apparently if your VAIO has a Motion Eye camera, there are a whole bunch of Vestax controllers that may not be recognised.
Odd

I like the fact that this thing has a separate video FX section, I know you can map anything nowadays but it's nice to see something stock.
It's 19" styled but can you rack it?
