Topic: videos playing in slow motion

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

hello

I recently bought an equipment a controller dn-mc6000,
a laptop Alienware m14x Intel Icore i7-2630qm cpu @ 2.00 ghz ram memory 4gb
windows home premiun 64 bits
video card
intel hd graphics 3000

and obviously I bought virtual dj I must mention that the alienware is new and we already spent two days updating every single drivers and service pack

so the story begins we started testing the sofware along with the controller and everything went fine untill we started playing videos all the videos starting freezing only the video making no difference if you had the proyector connected or not so then we downloaded the dj cel registry tool and we marked the video YV12BUG and then the vobs started playing fine but the mpegs and the videos from itunes they all still playing like in slow motion again I must mention that the audio always plays fine only the video slows down, the thing with this is that you probably will say hey only use your vobs then, I have a lot of video remixes that I personally arrange and I render them in mpeg and every club I go all the djs make their own videoremixes it's not that promo only remixes are bad but sometimes we need to re edit those videos to cut useless material like intros and breaks with talking and movie effects and no music during those breaks (imagine the people one the dancefloor waiting for the song to start again) and the story doesnt ends here we do a lot of special events like weddings and other related events and all the time they come to us with videos rendered in mpeg or even avis with a special theme for their event so obviously we need that all the supported formats play fine with no strange freezes or slow motions obviously we need to have the solutions for the clients not to worry about minor things because every event its a different people so we would never stop telling them to give us their videos on special formats

we would really appreaciate if you could give us a hand on this, excuse us for the long explanation but we wanted to be as clear as possible
thanks in advance for any help you could give

Correct me if I'm wrong but intel hd graphics 3000 are on-board graphics (I believe its on-board CPU) if you read specs for Virtual DJ you will need a video card with dedicated memory. Intel hd graphics 3000 uses system memory or CPU, I'm not really sure how these new CPU GPUs work but this has to be your problem.

I think this may solve your issue.
Intel Sandy Bridge driver update

and here's more discusion about your same problem
Sandy Bridge 2nd gen video issues WOW!

This is the main reason why I haven't update my laptop yet from a 1st gen i7, I want to make sure it's all sorted out first before I move to a 2nd gen i7 laptop.

we will try that driver update in a while, but in the meantime I tell you that yes the intel hd graphics 3000 it's an onboard,
must mention that we already did what the other users say in that post that you gave us the link for,
we checked the box for videodeinterlaceWMP and the checkbox for videoYV12BUG after we did this the videos in vob format played fine, but any other type of extension(mpeg, mp4, avi) played in slowmotion (the audio kept playing fine) the other checkboxes made no difference in the performance, we guess that if it has to do with dedicated memory then none of the videos played fine, so far we have got vobs playing fine with no slow motion or freezes but we need that all the supported files play fine with no bugs

so maybe it's a different problem than dedicated memory issues,

we will get back to you as soon as we make the driver update

ok we made the update and it made no difference in the performance still the same we actually tried some other settings in the registry tool the only one that makes a difference is the YV12bug checkbox but only on files with VOB Extension any other type of video file plays slow or freezes for a few seconds
