Topic: Automix produces loud mix

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

When I use automix, sometimes the next song being faded in produces a 1 second burst of increased volume for that song. At first I thought it was a new song that has not been scanned before but it happens on other songs that have been scanned also. i am using 7.04.
Has this happened to anyone else and is there a fix?

Set Auto Gain to Auto instead of Auto +Remember from the Config->Options tab

Hmm. Same problem here. And I'm afraid that setting doesn't do the trick. Any other tips?

I always scanned & set my cues when I put new music in my music folders ( VDJ ) also.

This "bug" is present even in songs played 100's of times and it has no particular pattern... Auto-Gain (or any Gain setting) does not affect it at all. However the ASIO buffer settings seem to make a difference on the frequency this "bug" appears during an automix "session". On the other hand this "bug" is present even in setups with WDM drivers so it's not a problem with ASIO. It seems as sometimes VDJ doesn't apply the FADE envelope correctly.
I don't use Automix much (only to go to men's room or to leave some music playing when I show up very early on a gig) so it doesn't really "bugs" me.

I use the automix feature at one of my happy hour night clubs and have had this problem for about 2 to 3 months. Its a fairly new bug. I have been using automix for over 5 years without this problem... on the same computer. I thought it might be time to update my computer but now I see others with exactly the same problem. Going by the threads I'm reading, it seems to have just popped up as a problem recently. People look at me each time a song is about to automix and the sound goes loud for a half a second and then mixes to the next song. I hope someone looks after this problem or unfortunitely I will have to switch to another program to use automix. I use it 4 nights a week for about 5 hours. It makes that loudness around 10-15 times each night.

I get it too!

It's actually quite dangerous if you're using automix on a big sound system. I'm usually mobile so a quick spike won't deafen anyone, but I once had to play a big gig using a massive line array system, it happened once when the music was really low, and it frightened me to death! Not a good look, so I had to hand mix all the background music that night...

Noticed this as well!

I've also noticed this problem happening randomly.

Auto gain set to audio was not the solution. I guess we have to wait for a fix with a new version of VDJ.
