Topic: Quick Question - Virtual DJ and My Macbook Pro

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I purchased a Macbook pro last week and purchased Virtual DJ 7 while in the store and tested it out before an event. To my surprise, I didn't like how it was performing. I finished the weekend using my PC, which works perfectly fine, I just wanted a Mac because everyone raves about them. I did some research and I am just looking for feedback...

After I transfer my music to a hard drive formatted for a Mac, will the choppiness in the music when loading songs and searching for tracks go away? And will I be able to use the current search database file on the mac? I would hate to have re-analyze all the music and not have the versions of songs I use most often come up first in search results.

I purchased the 13 inch Macbook Pro, I am using a Denon HD 2500 controller with built in ASIO sound card that connects via USB. The current drive I use is USB and the hard drive I am purchasing will be firewire. I plan to buy the LaCie 1TB Rugged All-Terrain Hard Drive I came across in the Apple store. I know a few DJs very happy with the durability of the drive.

I have the same Mac but I use the Hercules Rmx.

It has been good, though with the last update I've seen a decrease of performance in some areas.

1. Every time I open the config dialog box it takes the beachball about 10 seconds. It used to be instant.
2. Every couple of hours of playback I hear a chirp, like when you do a loop of a 1/16 of a second.

Also, since before the update, there's buttons on the Hercules that never seem to work. Even after trying to write the script on the mapper. (that could be my error though, but no one seems to be able to help me on that)

Bump.... Anyone know if the hard drive issue will be the fix I need?

I'm going to get a new MAC formatted hard drive after work today. I will review those pages and see how things work out. I may be able to figure it out myself, but is there a way to keep my old search database from the PC formatted hard drive and an earlier version of VDJ I was using on someone elses laptop? I like the way my music library is displayed (top plays in the top of folders).

To make everything more compatible I use a NTFS (windows) formatted HD & every now & then I have a blurp when it goes 2 load & I have the 2010 13" MBP. So I don't think that it could be the way the HD is formatted...
