Topic: Is it worth it?

So I decided to stop in on one of the pawn shops by my house today and didnt see much that I like except this Stanton TT going for 160. It's the t.80 model which I believe is discontinued and the t.90 is the replacement. Just wanted to see if it's worth it their giving me the choice to try it out but I have to return it that day if I wanted a full refund. The only thing I noticed it was missing was the 45 adapter. But had everything else.

be extremely carefull with pawn shop gear, as most people take them to pawn shops because they are worn out or broken. pawn shops check to see if it switches on and goes round and thats it. they have no real expertise in if there is anything wrong with the equipment.

and be warned that they tend to only give credit notes if you return something so unless theres something else you like, then dont bother..

also check ebay for current sales prices and check to see if the pawnshop price is somewhere near right.
 
Just a personal note here: I don't buy anything from a pawn shop unless I know how to repair it or completely refurbish it. (I recently posted a thread about this for some inexpensive subs I bought)

Think of Pawn Shops the same as you would a Used car lot.

Do you research, Don't be afraid to ask to take covers off and examine the insides (If you know what you are doing)
Test drive the turntable right in the store, Plug it in, make some noise. Most pawn shop staff have "personality" so they probably won't mind.
 
Thanks. Ya I'm going to pass on that TT and just keep looking for (a) subs I oringinaly planned on using that place for.
