How much do you put a-side for win7 64 install on a partition?

depends on the flavor - I would say between 20 - 30 GB depending on HP, pro, or ultimate
 
Are you partitioning the HD so that the other partition would hold your music? IMO, since HD's, internal or external are so cheap, I would just have a dedicated system drive and a dedicated drive for your music. I’m sure others may disagree but I just feel better having my music on a totally separate physical drive, with 2 backups of course.
 
I have seen a lot of folks put their OS on a 32GB SSD. What kind of rig are you installing this on?
 
I'm installing on a laptop internal HD, thinking I may increase speed if I have my music, videos & karaoke on separate drive.

Anyway I did 70GB to be on the safe side.
