Topic: hotcues for transitions

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

which cue points do you set up in your tracks to make transitions easier? I just want to know how other dj's setup theirs. beforehand I would always have trouble trying to analyzing the waveform while mixing to see where the chorus/verse/breaks are so I have started to set up cue points for my tracks in this way:

1st beat
mix out
tag
8 bars before chorus
8 bars before second chorus
8 bars before vocals
16 bars before chorus (if so)
16 bars before second chorus (if so)

Is this too much preparation for each track?
Let me know what you think.

Wow thats pretty good!

The way I do it is slightly different, normally i set up 3 hot cues.

1st : 1st kick or 1st beat

2nd: Building up and tension before the drop

3rd: Drop
