Dj Doc Z,
I have previously used an ASUS which is alot older then this and ran VDJ fine along with video output wia a hdmi cable to my home tv for parties at home.
One of my close friends has a similar laptop to the ones on ebay you are looking at except his are 3D for gaming and movies. The thing is a beast when gaming and i used VDJ and Ableton on his laptops with no issues at all, including through a usb soundcard with two turntables a mixer and timecode vinyls.
I am unsure as to whether any of these have two soundcards though sorry, however I will always speak highly of decent specs on an asus laptop, if you buy a cheap one you get a cheap one lol.
Regards Dj Klepht

And another Asus user here. I've never had any problems with mine, ran videos using timecodes since the first day I got it.
Problem I'm having is which one to buy aswell. I've been running this one for two years now so I know I should looking into a new one soon and yes it'll be another Asus.....

I have 2 asus laptops. one is a g60x and one is the g74s. They are both great machines for VDJ . I do videos and Karaoke with no problem. Try to go to a store and look at one tho. the g70 series are like typewriters lol. but I can care less what it looks like as long as it works

Does anyone know if Asus runs that two video card system at all like some of those dells?
Posted Thu 28 Jul 11 @ 8:08 am
I'm not sure, but the asus I have has a dedicated 2gb video card. I will look into it for you.

what do you mean by 2 video cards? The optimus designation means that it can switch from integrated graphics - the graphics engine built in to the intel sandy bridge processor - and the standalone nvidia or amd graphics card depending on the workload. for less intense tasks the integrated graphics core will be used to save battery power, when needed the high end graphics card will be switched on for more intense graphics needs..
