Topic: VDJ, Traktor & Others

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

As backup I have decided to have two all in ones and a couple of programs, my controller (MP-X10) supports Trakror as well as VDJ so I'm thinking of getting a copy.

Not up on current version etc there are so many, scratch, duo etc etc thought I'd ask?

Does anyone else use Traktor from time to time and if so what version?

Also couldnt even register an account due to anti spam question below, they expect you to be an expert in their product range. Even when you try research it's not easy to navigate their site!

Please enter the complete name of one of the following NI products - Ko__akt / Tr__tor / Re__tor / Gui___ Rig

never used traktor all that much, I think you need scratch pro for 4 deck midi and timecode, scratch duo is midi and timecode for 2 decks, and i think you can get ordinary pro and duo for just midi control... but not sure about the last bit... everything is based on upgrades which all cost more, the more functionality you get

but the answer is

kontakt / traktor / reaktor / guitar rig

For me.its Serato because I still use turntables. Traktor is nice but like Serato I hate the way you have to manage your music. There both a pain in the butt. Serato is pretty straight forward for what I do but also most of the guys I work with use it. So it was just natural for me to use it as a backup cause its always around. Plus you can download it for free and setup all your music, that way if something did happen its ready already, lol!

So many choices anymore

i just cant get away with trakturd, it takes forever to scan your tracks then spends half the time you use it flashing red lines errors at the bottom telliing you its not working rite.

i also think the browser is complete pants. it shows my entire music collection in one browser window. which takes ages to navigate through.

anyway, for me traktor is not really al that good. theres too much it cant do. they say simple is professional. my honest opinion is, if simple was profesional then why aint we all still using vinyl?

I used Traktor & Traktor 2...I hate the interface for some reason....But I did start out on VDJ so that could be why...But I used it for about a month 2 try & get used 2 it but never did so came back 2 VDJ....I have been thinking about trying it again because ppl in my area think it's more professional than VDJ but then I got 2 thinking about it..It's not what software I use it's what I can do with it, & I'm still getting gigs so it doesn't matter it's what I'm comfortable with..

RD423, thanks for your input however this isn't about which ones better.

It's more about a backup program and seen as my controller supports both natively I have arrived here.

I have to say though, I downloaded the trial today (done this many times before) and hate the browser. Actually I uninstalled it and downloaded itch and it was a lot easier (done that before too)

Prob is controller doesn't work with itch.

Well with Traktor you have the explorer tree just like VDJ and you navigate the same there. So you don't even have to scan your tracks really. You can set it up to scan on load. Not the best but its the easiest thing to do. I would suggest Charlie focus on using your controller with it. Cause if you can't use that with then your library isn't really gonna make a difference.

Just thinkin outloud

Maybe LE version of Traktor to start with, I take it they limit you to straight audio and disable karaoke and video lol.
