Hi,
I used the build in Karaoke plugin to manage the singer list for the first time at a gig on Saturday night and had a couple of crashes which can only be related to that. I've never had the slightest problem before with virtual DJ. I've also done many karaoke nights fine before when not using the karaoke effect plugin. I'd like to use the plug in on my regular karaoke night but not sure I can trust it anymore. Anyone else had a similar issue or any advice.
My setup is Windows 7 32bit laptop (Compaq cq60-320sa). 4gb ram. nVidia 8400 graphics built in. I have a second monitor plugged in and use extend windows video setting. I had the hardware acceleration ticked in the virtual dj settings.
Thanks

Can you post the crashguard report.
Was it during automix?

I wasn't using automix at the time. I'll look for the crash guard report later and post. Thanks

Hi there,
You are quite correct, the karaoke plug in when activated does cause the VDJ programme to crash.
I have had a number of bad experiences over the past few weeks when using this plug in and have sent my crash guard reports off, but despite being three weeks down the line I am no nearer in getting a positive answer to this obvious issue.
I am now going into week four and hope I can get a positive answer very soon.

I was about to use this Plug In on Wednesday night until I read this string. Does anyone have any update on this bug?

I have never known this plugin to update all the years I have used it. I too have had several crashes....moreso with the v7.5 than ever. When I spoke to the powers to be years ago, the best answer they gave me was "it is what it is" VDJ is not a karaoke player. It is a DJ player with a karaoke plugin and no updates were being considered. Which is too bad really. They could have a good thing going for them. Lately, with v7.5 the crash guard doesnt even show up, VDJ just completely shits the bed and turns off ljust ike someone unlugged a lamp. I do use the plugin still, but I take a few steps to ensure a safe night.
This is based on personal experience of 5 nights a week of hosting karaoke, and is not supported by any data:
1/ It seems to me that when karaoke folders have not been scanned and/or opened before your show start, things get bogged down anda crash is on the horizon. By opening all your karaoke folders before you start your show, then closing them, then re-opening them you will see a significant speed change in it's performance. My colleague and I have concluded, that a portion of the crash problem is a "search" or "recurse" issue.
2/ In the plugin options, I have notied that by unchecking the NEAR END box has improved my chances of a "no crash" event. I think there could be an issue with the timing or overlapping of functions the plugin provides....ie: Loading a song to the plugin during the NEAR END countdown.
3/ Also, your left browser coloumn, while not using it, keep a folder high-lighted that has very little or no music in it. The speed of your searches greatly increases, because the system doesnt have to look there.
4/ Use this filter to find JUST karaoke songs, real fast and that come to the top of your search results list. "type=karaoke"
For you programmers out there, please excuse my ignorance of the above, but I can only give you my real working world experience.
