Topic: importing VDJ BPM info into itunes

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I have been searching through post seeing if there was a way to do this and i haven't seen anything that explicitly states you can or can't. i don't want to rescan all my mp3s and i dont want to manually enter every value from VDJ into itunes. i know i can use an external BPM analyzer but it seems that virtual dj is pretty accurate. for me its easy to sort using BPM even if i am not using the exact values. i would like to be able to navigate through itunes rather than vdj and then use my itunes smart playlists. can anyone offer any help with this or an external analyzer that is as good as VDJ. Thanks.

I use BeaTunes to scan my itunes library and supply me with BPM information and Keys.

phantom dj is building a program that will among other things write vdj's information to the id3 tags. there is a post in the plugin forum, but you will need to be a registered pro user to get it when it gets released.

i looked into Beatunes but it seemed that in many cases it was giving me different results than VDJ. i want to try to keep the information consistent everywhere. do you find beatunes more accurate?

on most songs its accurate. Some songs it is not as much but it is typically very close so that I can atleast make some playlists that are pretty close in BPM. I can always use pitch and sync to match up the songs that are close at least. it works until the above mentioned plug in gets completed and can put it to good use.

I use a little script that a fellow user made a while that write the bpm and key back to ID3 tag, ill post it when I get home tonight. It works pretty good and doesn't take to long, well I guess it depends on how many tracks your doing.

Here's a little tool I got from a fellow user. You just download it and save it to your desktop (or wherever you want) then just double click on it. You won't see anything happen but its now on. Next open VDJ and highlight the tracks you want the bpms & keys wrote back to the id3 tag. Now right click on a track and hit file info. Now it'll start writing that info to the tags. It won't stop until you close the file info window or I believe you hit ctrl x and it stops, not at home right now. It doesn't take that long depending on how many tracks your doing.
Here's the link, [Sorry, 3rd party sharing links are not permitted - Tools must be uploaded to our official download area http://www.virtualdj.com/addons/index.html ]

Hope that helps for now
