Topic: Looking into buying a Macbook Pro again.

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Was just wondering what Macbook you guys are using for VDJ? I will be using a Hercules 4-mx with it. I also may use my Denon hc4500 controller from time to time.

Can you guys give a list of positives and negatives that you have experienced with your Mac and VDJ.

If anyone uses the 4mx with a Mac. How well do you like it?

Thanks for the help.

I was also wondering. Do I need a special External HD for a Mac? Are there any type of files that will not work on Mac VDJ compared to PC VDJ?

Using the Mac is a 5 star with VDJ with me,you have 1/2 of the effects with the Mac not like PC,but the effects on the Mac works for me with my music ( R & B and Rap ).
All my video/pic are on a External HD and all my music is on my Mac.You can open files or make a CD and run VDJ with NO sweat and the Mac doesn't get hot like my Pc.

@ Ash. Which Mac are you using? I want the 17 inch, but the high end 15 is nice as well (and a bit cheaper). A friend of mine bought the 13 inch, but he does not use VDJ. He just does karaoke and uses a hoster (can't remember the name).

I do alotta video mixing and do a couple karaoke shows. I use a 2TB external drive for my videos mp3s and karaoke zip files. Will I be able to use the same drive on the Mac? All vids are mp4 and older vids are mpeg2.

You'd probably get better response asking In the Mac forum.

I am using Macbook Pro 13.3. I upgraded it myself to 8GB Mem and 720GB 7200RPM HD.

Performance is flawless! I know there are way more effects and stuff for PC & VDJ but Its hard to give up my Mac. My backup machine is Sony Vaio Win7 machine with VDJ as well, but I would 2 to 1 rather use my MBPro.

I have all my music on Internal HD and backed up to 1TB External using TimeMachine.

If you have any further questions let me know.

I'm reporting this info from another topic where I described my 13" Macbook Pro which I run under Windows (in order to use full PC version with no limitations).
==========
It looks nice, lightweight, can fit 1TB internal HDD, better components, better firewire chip, backlit keyboard, trackpad is bigger and more convenient than PC touchpad, AC adapter is small and not a huge brick, no grounding problems, can run MacOS or Windows, better protection for components with aluminium body.
===========
I'm running VDJ which also does audio recording of every gig to SD card, Winamp with MiniLyrics, VST Host with vocal effects, SampleTank virtual synthesizer, Chrome & Firefox for songs downloading (connected to internet), video activated with Sonique visuals or MilkDrop visuals with Winamp - this all on Macbook with Windows connected to a 16 channel FireWire sound card. No crash or glitches!

Im using a 13'' 2.66 4G.B 2-Duo and i didn't install window on my Mac.On my Pc windows was asking for to much updates,so i didn't need that on my Mac.If it's on a external drive then VDJ will read all your info like your PC.

It's All Good VDJ work ALL that OUT.

Thanks guys for all your helpful input.
