Topic: Need Recommendations for RackMount Controller

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hey folks: need some recommendations for a heavy-use (5 nights a week) durable rackmount controller. Currently have a Denon HD2500 that needs repair. Am looking at other options at this point.

I am familiar with the pioneer mep7000 (sepc1). The downside to that unit is there is not enough buttons to map for 3 hot cues.

Pioneer has one, the SEP-C1. Denon has a HC4500. You can still find a Numark DMC 2, my favorite.

In my opinion, the Hc4500 is the best midi rack controller. It has all the main features you need at the touch of a button.

Im looking at the hc4500 now trying to figure out the differences between it and the hd2500. We are only using the hd2500 as the controller for vdj. Would love the pioneer sep-c1 but there just aren't enough buttons to map for how I mix (at least a minimum of 3 hot cues). We aren't even using the onboard sound card of the hd2500 so an internal sc doesn't matter since we have the ssl box.

The Denon DN-MC6000 comes with the ears to rack mount and has been acclaimed very highly with VirtualDJ.

Between the Hc4500 and the Hd2500. The Hc4500 has five function keys that are used for cue points and the button layout is alot better. Its nicely spaced out. The HD2500 wasnt a big seller and thats why the price dropped many times.

This is the first video I found, looks alright to me
