When you sign up are you bound by a contract for the year? Or can you pay for it when you need it? I know it's good for 30 days. What if you don't need it for more than that at this time?

Thanks. The only thing is that this is my first gig this year and I just started to gig so I haven't made any money to pay for my gear so I'm kinda looking at it do as do I wanna spend 90 bucks on something I don't know if I'll have to use until my next gig.
Also do you know if the music is prescreened to know if it's a good file or not?

i think you just sign up and pay 10$ ....
i don't know what the 90$ is about
not all are screened , the ones that are have a checkmark

I was just saying if I didn't use it any more than the month I needed it then I would be bound to a contract for a year at 10 bucks a month.
But Im not I'm pressed with it I cached my playlist for my gig last night and I was only able to find half of the songs. from the playlist I got from my client.

That's sucky. I'd be pretty pissed if I couldn't access those carefully cached songs that you payed the obligated service charge for (i.e., the Premium Service month cost). This is why I am holding back for now on the Premium Service. If I get it, I don't want any hassles and need it to work seamlessly, otherwise it's just a waste of money, in my opinion. If you are paying legitimate costs for a service, it should work with no hassles, imo. On the other hand, I am open to hearing that issues like what you are talking about (i.e., not being able to access cached songs) are few and far between for subscribers of the service. But I can't afford to have to confront gross mistakes in being able to play songs for patrons that are expecting a certain type of play list. That's what I am being payed the big bucks for as a professional deejay.

Post the playlist cause I've sat in a room full of people and have gotten 99% of the tracks thrown at me. This covered all types of music from rock, jazz, blues, hip-hop, and many more. When you say you couldn't find them what do you mean, you downloaded them and they didn't show up or you couldn't find them while searching?? Also were they tracks with an "L" next to them, were they audio and videos??
Please post the list
Huey
@DJRXM, Netsearch is a tool. It's for those tracks that you don't have in the moment. If you know you don't have the tracks and the gig is 2 weeks away, you should just search out and buy the tracks. Sure Netsearch has a ton of tracks but its a tool that can possibly save you, I said possibly. There's no promises that it'll be there so I think your statement is kinda unfair..........

Who's Rockefeller?
And that kind of sarcasm is inappropriate.
This a thread regarding Premium Membership, not a thread for hostile comments like "...go flip burgers..."
If someone doesn't like my concern on the Premium Service and ability to access cached tracks, that's fine. I am always open to constructive criticism to learn more about the service.
I personally felt like sympathizing with the lad's situation and was just stating MY OPINION and doing it without unnecessary insults.
Thank you.

The Premium Service works like this. You play $9.99 a month. This gives you access to over 8 million songs. This is a added convenience for the occasional song that you may need at the moment. You may stream it from the service, or download it to cache. If you download it to cache, you will have access to it as long as your subscription is in effect. You only have to re-authorize these tracks once every 30 days. Are we seriously crying about $9.99 a month? This is a monthly service. There is no contract. Here's an idea. Try it for the price of a super sized meal, if you like it, keep it. All of the features of this software are not for everyone. If this service is not for you, don't use it. I love it, and waste more than $10.00 a month on a lot of stuff, this is not one of them. I spend more than that at Beatport, and some of those tracks have a shelf life of 2 weeks. Yeah, I don't get to keep the tracks if I stop paying. Well, that's the deal, and I knew this up front. Sarcasm works for me. I thought it was humorous.

Well that doesn't surprise me that you like sarcasm as well as the other guy in this thread. I've read some of your posts on threads and you don't pull punches in delivering insults to other members of the VDJ forums/network. That's fine with me because that's your trip and not mine. (What the heck, join the club of flamers and rude people because the Internet is full of them.) I personally choose to not put down others and participate in name calling because it's about respect.
And as far as the money is concerned, it's not so much about the money in the final analysis. It's about the personal value you get when you buy products and services. I was just stating my opinion about what I have learned thus far in hearing feedback regarding the specific service. If you have ever noticed any of my past posts on topics pertaining to Premium Service I have NEVER dished on the service whatsoever. And I can actually state my opinion without referring to someone that needs to flip burgers and think of themselves as "Rockefeller." Comments like that come across disrespectful, and I certainly found it that way. Once again, it's so easy to put people down when sitting at a keyboard and mouse.

well , i'm sorry i didn't count to ten first, before getting sarcastic ........like yer supposed 2
to me hacking on netsearch is like finding fault with fishnet stockings or air conditioning????????????
what's wrong with it?????????????
it's inexpensive , the artists get compensated instead of screwed , the company makes money for a service that is particularly
needed by newbies , and can even be useful to us more experienced ......where's the bad part ????????????????
who's Rockefeller ?
Rockefeller invented electricity , the necessary precursor to Ozzy's invention of the Stratocaster .......

I'd be interested to know which song were not found..
it might be a label thing.. I dont think Grooveshark has deals with all the major labels.. (though they do have deals with the major two)

You are huffing & puffing ,and have not even tried it yet. I have no trouble accessing my cached files. For $9.99 you can try it yourself. This way, you won't have such a negative attitude, based on other peoples issues.

Your opinion, based on what? You have a negative attitude about "hassles and working seamlessly", and you have not spent the $9.99 to try it yourself. I don't have any hassles and it works seamlessly for me. Call me crazy, but at some point I must do the work myself, and not listen to others. Since I'm being paid the big bucks as a professional DJ, I figure I could spend $9.99 to try this service out. Actually, if a client gives me a play list, I buy the music I don't have, and only use this service for on the spot request. I also use this for my club gigs, so I don't have to spend a fortune at Beatport. So, for $9.99, you can try this service for 30 days. Then you can come back here and tell us about all the negative issues you are having, base on real facts that you have experienced. If you have time, you can tell us about any positive benefits you have noticed.
Posted Tue 31 May 11 @ 12:15 pm
Island sjoa, you are not gonna find every song on that list, with this service. However, the 2/3 that you do find would have cost you more than $9.99. So, how much will it cost you to get all of these tracks, if you buy them? I also have Rhapsody that cost me $14.99 a month, plus 99 cent and up if I want to buy any track. I have to search outside of VDJ for a track, and stream outside of VDJ. If I want to play in VDJ, I have to pay for them, download, and port to VDJ. And, they don't have every song either.

+1 :-)
Any Pro DJ knows that our music catalog is our lifeblood.. Depending on ANY temporary service for your primary catalog is insane..
for instant requests and one-offs, its a very smart decision..

Yes, and I am loved by the masses....................Let's give my friend Terry time to respond..................
Island sjoa, I just counted those songs, and think I got 62, and you said this is the first page. How long is this function? At 3 min a song x 62= a little over 3 hours. If a client gives me more music than the contracted hours, I am very honest with them. I let them know that they will not hear all of this music in the allotted time. I give them the opportunity to revise the list or the hours. This way the client is not surprised at the function.
