Lately I've noticed more and more that it takes to long to catch beatmix with vdj even if Both songs are the same Original bpm. the beatmix just
does not sound good, We tried the same songs with serato and Catching the beatmix was Faster was better sounding.
The feeling with vdj is that you always need to fix the beatmix Because it just does not sound good.
My question is Am I missing some setting or something else in the software ?
For that matter i work as a dj for 5 years now, 3 years with vdj and i made the test with Two other dj's and we all agree that the vdj beatmix Does not sound good as serato and takes time to catch it Compared to the serato. something that I noticed when I tried to mix with serato.
is There a way to fix the "grid" like in the Other softwares to be more accurate in the mix in lass time ?
in the Test we used macbookpro 2Xcdj400 and djm800
I personally use VDJ and I will be happy to hear tips on The beatmix sound If there is a setting that I'm missing...

Make sure the cbg grid is in the correct position, if it needs adjusting you can right click the bpm button on the default skin to be able to adjust the cbg. Another good tip for adjusting the cbg is to create a metronome track that you can sync the beats to so every track you fix is locked to the same beat. I made one in fruity, but any daw would do it fine.
You could also map a couple of buttons to - adjust_cbg -0.01% you can use +/- and if you want the button to be more sensitive Increase the % value

what is the cbj ? I did not understand exactly how to perform the operation of the grid fix And how do I know that he is incorrect Right now ?

sorry, the cbg stands for "computer beat grid", its the thing at the bottom of the waveform, vdj will sync tracks to that. It would be necessary to adjust if the tracks were galloping or out of sync e.g. the bass is where the snare is on the other track.

If your question relates to the time it takes to correct, there probably isn't anything the software can do, but if you have been djing for 5 years you should be able to drop the track on the right beat, and you can always press sync before you press play if your that way inclined.

first of all i never use the sync button
the matter of the beatmix time is due to from the way it sounds in serato It took me a few small touches to get a good beat mix
and in vdj with the same songs it took more time Because No matter how much I fixed with the jog the beatmix Still does not sound good.
My question is if the fix of the grid affects only when i use sync Because then it does not help me.
Even if the small squares are not in place you still mix with the ear.
in Almost all of the songs the wave is un the center of the square below Which makes me think that it not the issue.
possibly that The sound of the serato or the accuracy of the software makes the beatmix sound better ?

what do you mean by the beatmix? Is it the jog sensitivity? if not describe what you need. I haven't used Serato all that much

Mmm,
I allways use the 'smart play' option and the only sync problems I experiance is that the first beat in the bar is sometimes misdetected (that I do see more with the newer versions) but you'll find that out before you mix in the record. Might sound lazy not to manually beatmix, on the other hand, it works flawlessly and gives you time to focus on other things, i just see that as technological progress, not a loss of craftmenship.
What I did notice however that performance issues can cause the timing to be fucked up and give a very nasty 'not in sync' feel to it. I'm using a script I wrote to revert my Windows 7 machine to minimum resource usage (disabling security, drivers, areo etc etc) before using VirtualDJ, that does do the trick for me to prevent that from happening.
You might wish to check that out.

I have been using VDJ with Pioneer CDJ-400s & a Pioneer DJM-800 for over two years without so much as a hiccup when it come to beatmixing/beatmatching. Starting with version 5.2.1 all the way to the latest version 7.0.4. I never worry about the waveform or CBG, I only worry about what I hear. I mix by only ear, but then again I've been DJing since 1983 before the advent of computer aided technology. Technics 1200s was my choice back then so when I'm playing now I don't really use the screen of my laptop to aid in mixing, only my ears. I don't think I understand what your issue is here. I also own an SL3 for Serato Scratch Live and get the exact same result with VDJ as SSL except when scratching. So tell us again? What is wrong here?

By watching the wave it can really through you out, mix be ear and not by what the wave say's, it wrong a lot of the time.
I know it's hard for new skool DJ's as your used to the visual eliminate but just hit sync and the bang the play button on beat, can't get easier than that.
Can you imagine what it was like in the old days from belt drives!

I repeat, I dont use the sync button. the Waves help to be more effective That's it.
my jog sensitivity is very low He tuned according to my convenience
Forget from the display, I'm talking about working only with the ear, The point is not how to get to the beatmix it how it sounded at the end
The thing is that in virtual there are times that the beatmix never sounds perfect...

Maybe your volumes are to high and what your hearing is clipping. Try adjusting your eq's and see how it sounds. I think I know what your talking about..........

I still have no idea... LOL, maybe your latency is too high so your audio is breaking up, I use serato tcv with an audio 8, and get the tracks to match every time, unless the ground goes, in that case the pitch will fluctuate wildly up to around 1.5 higher until i reground the deck.
Posted Fri 13 May 11 @ 4:41 pm
What speakers/amp you use?
Posted Fri 13 May 11 @ 4:50 pm
my latency is less then 4ms. for the test we used jbl 15" monitor With the same volume with both softwares
the feel was that the serato sound was softer what made the beatmix to sound Better and faster to get.
I know that sound has an effect on how the mix will hear and in the test I could hear the difference Between softwares
Could be something in the settings that I'm missing ?

I may be misunderstanding here, but if you're beatmixing manually and it doesn't
sound perfect, that's down to you and your mixing skill, not VDJ!

you are misunderstanding... I have no problem to catch beatMix I'm talking about how he sounds and how long it takes to get there compared to other software
