Topic: Next generation Virtual DJ Controller.. LONG LIVE THE VINYL

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hi all,

I'm a DJ who like many others LOVES the power that computer DJ'ing offers..

But I HATE messing around the back of the mixer in front of my crowd when I want to use Vinyl to control it.

So I came up with this..

Please take a mo to have a look.

Many thanks,

Leon.

Interesting Leon,

Thanks for sharing.

Leon...whilst I do applaud your ingenuity, I'm not quite sure what problem your solving.

Using DVS, as it stands today, is a usuable method for using TT with timecode - ok you have wires, but the advantage of wires is that they are robust, reliable and latency free, whereas any wireless system is potentially subject to failure, glitches, interference and increased latency.

On the latency front, many people are looking at reducing latency even on USB and Firewire connected systems.

Making use of a laptop has many advantages over vinyl and CD's, such as portability and expandability. I do appreciate that you can fall foul of the "checking your emails" syndrome, but the latest generation control surfaces are overcoming this issue.

Please don't think I am knocking your idea, as I'd be interested in hearing your response to the issues I raise.

Wow, I look forward to seeing this becoming a reality in the future and actually trying it out!
