Topic: Denon mc 6000. Can't cue the next song.

Hello djs. I am a new Virtual DJ. I have been using serato for 8 years. And I am now using a denon mc 6000 with virtual DJ pro (20 day free trial version). Main question. I am using a MacBook 2.6 ghz 2 gig ram 350 hard drive. As there are many questions my main focus is on the CUE buttons for channels 1-4. When I am playing a track I want to cue(listen) to my next song in headphones. I press the CUE button that goes with the track I want to hear in my headphones. I turn the knob on the left all the way to CUE and I turn up the headphone volume. BUT I hear nothing. Am I doing something wrong ? Is it a messed up unit ? Is it a software setting I'm missing ? Please help. I don't want to send back equipment that's fine and don't want to keep equipment that's broke. Thank you.
