Topic: 64-bit DJ Controller

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hello!

I recently upgraded my PC from one that was 32-bit to one that was 64-bit, not having any idea that by doing so I would no longer be able to use my PCDJ-Dac 2. I have been using it since I first went digital almost six years ago. Any recommendations for a suitable replacement? I am looking for something that is rackmountable (not tabletop).

Thanks!

Ben

Have you enabled serial devices?

Support for these is not enabled by default because they are obsolete.

Go to CONFIG -> Mappers, click on the button to the right of the drop-down list and make sure that serial devices is ticked.

Then click the button again to and choose to scan for new devices.

A good modern rackmount alternative would be the Denon DN-MC4500. This also has a built-in sound card. However, it is 3u rather than 2u (There are no modern 2u MIDI controllers available.)

I had the DAC-2 working when I first installed Virtual on my old PC, which was 32-bit. When I bought my new PC and tried to download the DAC-2 drivers, I was told that the DAC-2 was only designed for 32-bit systems, and that since it has been discontinued, no 64-bit drivers would ever be released. I never even got to the point of linking it with the software once the unit had been installed. I will look into the Denon. I have also been looking at the American Audio DP2 and the Numark DMC2. I am leaning towards the Numark, but since this is an older unit, I don't know if I would have the same issue.

Thanks!

Ben

Denon DN-HC4500 worked with my 64bit OS, also the numark DMC2 and Hercules RMX (Has a rack mount kit) have all worked on my windows 7 64bit OS
