I have this equipment.....

2 Pioneer CDJ 800'S
1 DJM 600
VIRTUAL DJ ( which is 5.0 or something in the 5's )
i also have a Numark Stero IO soundcard

i want to connect this equipment up to work with my speakers , how would i go about doing this? i would like to know how to
do with with or without the soundcard

i basically want to connect my mixer and decks with virtual dj and with my speakers

please, please help...

I'm not familiar with your soundcard personally, but for the rest of stuff to work together with VDJ, the only way to go is via TIMECODE.
If your soundcard supports 4in/4out then you won't have to buy anything else besides VirtualDj 7 Full PRO. Otherwise you'll have to purchase a 4in/4out soundcard too.

The way to connect things is:
CDJ800 outs to Soundcard's Line-In's
Soundcard's Line-Out's to your DJM600 Line In's
DJM600 Master Out to Amps Line-In

You will also have to burn two audio cd's with timecode signal that you can download HERE

Finally you'll have to setup VDJ 7 Full PRO for usage with timecode cd's!

Then you'll definitely will need a 4in-4out soundcard like Maya 44
 
What about if i want to use my mixer - djm 600 with virtual DJ ??

i want to be able to load the songs onto each deck on virtual DJ... then be able to control it through mixer...

but i want it so that i can listen to each deck through the headphones?

would i deffinitley need a 4 way soundcard or can i do it without??

i have a 2 way output soundcard at the minute....
 
You will need a soundcard that can at least provide 2 STEREO outputs.

For timecode use, you will need a sound card with atleast 4 outputs (2 stereo) and 4 inputs (2 stereo), such as Hercules DJ Trim, Native Instruments Audio 4 DJ, Audio 8 DJ, ESI Maya44 USB, etc.

Sound cards such as Numark DJIO, Native Instruments Audio 2 DJ, etc. do not have the required inputs and are designed for use by mouse/keyboard or MIDI controller DJ's only.

Numark Stereo IO is unsuitable for DJ use.

I would just like to mention that I am currently using two Numark Stereo IO's on the same computer, with the Asio4all drivers and I have no problems at all.
 
That will not give you true low latency audio. ASIO4ALL is just an emulator.

If you are not scratching, this may not make much difference, but for scratching, the responsiveness and quality of the scratch sound will not be as good as a true low latency capable sound card.
 
I have the io soundcard with 1 output and 2 inputs,.. wbut have 2 outputs on my laptop, won't timecode work via advanced config? eg using the 2 inputs from io and 2 outputs from laptop? maybe a silly suggestion.
 
Numark Stereo IO only has 1 input (Either line (CD) or phono (Turntable), depending on which you choose via the selector switch.)

Using two different sound cards for timecode is not recommended any may not work well. If you do try this, you should at least use two identical sound cards (E.g: 2x Stereo IO.) However, this may give you performance issues with a setup like this due to overhead of ASIO4ALL's software-based ASIO emulation. You will also not get true low latency ASIO sound (Essential for scratching) - See http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/ASIO4ALL.html

For best results, purchasing a proper dedicated multi-channel ASIO sound card designed for timecode use is strongly recommended. ESI Maya44 USB is the cheapest and works well for timecode. Hercules DJTrim is a better quality option and if purchased with the starter pack, it also includes VirtualDJ LE (Can be upgraded to the full Pro at a discount) and timecode records & CD's.

maybe I have an upgraded stereo io then as i have 2 inputs 1 phone and 1 phono/line and 1 output.

I will upgrade soon via dj2go vdj LE as i want to experiment a bit more
 
That is the normal Stereo IO.

It has line input L/R, phono input L/R (4 actual sockets) and output L/R (2 actual sockets.)

There is a switch on the Stereo IO to choose between either the line or phono input, so you could have both a CD player (Line) and record deck (Phono) connected at the same time and switch between them on the fly. You can't use the line and phono inputs simultaneously.

However, as above, two Stereo IO's would probably work via ASIO4ALL, but this is not recommended. It's better to get the Maya44 which is a proper 4-in/4-out (2 stereo) real ASIO sound card if you are on a budget.
