Topic: DJ IO poor sound

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Just bought a Numark DJ IO interface to use with virtual dj on my mac so that i could listen through my headphones as well play music through the stereo system. Got it all set up but the sound is really poor; had a look through the manual and tried to change the latency, as i thought that might be the problem, but didn't work. Changed some of the audio setting on my mac too but no luck.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Check to make sure that the output on the DJ IO and the built in output are the same?

I would check and make sure they are bout at 48 or 44 or whatever you use and not different. As long as both numbers are the same it should work.

It should be under utilities and then audio/midi set up in your applications folder. Just make sure both soundcards are outputting the same.

Hope I helped, this solution worked for me.

For best results, make sure that you are using the SAME sound card for both your headphones and master ouput. The DJIO is capable of this, however you will need to purchase either VirtualDJ Basic or Professional to use it: http://www.virtualdj.com/products/comparison.html

VirtualDJ Home FREE is free limited software and does not support multi-channel external sound cards. But you can try it for 10 minutes at a time as a trial of the full Pro.

In MacOS -> Utilities -> Audio/MIDI Setup, make sure that the DJIO is set to 4ch, 16-bit 44100Hz

Then set your sound settings as follows:

Inputs: None
Outputs: Headphones
Sound card: 4-out card -> Choose the DJIO in the drop-down list.

Click APPLY.

NOTE: If you use two different sound cards for master + headphones, you will get issues like you describe above if they have different audio capabilities to each other, e.g: One is 48000Hz and the other 441000Hz.

Will DJ IO Numark work with Macbook Pro 2.3GHz Quard core i7 Snow Leopard 10.6. Also, is there still the same problem with Lion as it does not recognize the Numark DJ IO? {I Have VDJ Pro Full Version.} My first time useing a Macbook for work, I Work with All Window's PC.

DJIO should work OK with MacOS Snow Leopard.

However, it may not be compatible with MacOS Lion yet. Please check with Numark first before upgrading to this new operating system.
