Topic: Which driver to use with esi u46dj

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Im using esi u46dj and i have problems with pops and cracks, and i have to exit virtual dj...
I use it in windows xp sp3 32 bits system... Asio driver seems that doesnt work ( when i click on setup asio nothing appears ( in the setup audio configuration), so i have to configure it with 2 sound cards.

Someone who use esi u46dj with virtualdj and windows xp... Which drivers do yo use ? 1.0.14, 1.0.16, 1.0.18... or the last 3.0 from 2009 ( http://download.esi-audio.com/?w=esi&p=26&g=2&l=en)

Any help would be apreciate....

Thanks in advance..

You should check the hardware revision.
Esi provides informations about the correct driver when you click on the driver download link.
I have used the latest v3 on windows xp and my rev.B without a problem.

Something you should never forget about usb soundcards, use always the same usb port or you will have problems like asio not found.
Reinstall the driver for the usb port you prefer to use and you should be fine.
Use asio instead of wdm/2 cards setup.

I have rev.B... as it only appears one sound device and one control panel in hardware elements.

Thanks apopsis... Im using always the same usb port ( as i use a desktop pc). I have reinstalled many times drivers.... now i have 3.0 installed correctly. But as said before in vdj, when i go to setup audio .. i have:

Inputs: none
Output: External mixer
When i select asio driver.... then appears two possibilities: esi u46 and esiu46dj, both of them that i use when i click on the button of Config Asio....nothing happens...perhaps a problem with vdj and drivers..I also have unchecked the ultra-latency adio.

Which option do you use ? esi u46 or esi u46dj ?
Do you have ultra latency asio enabled ?
What latency do you have the driver ? 64, 128, 256, 288
Latency in vdj ? Auto, 64, 128...
Do you have Safe mode enabled ?
The 3.0 driver you use its from esi download page ? or did you get it from another source ?

And last... do you have windows xp sp3 with all updates... or what windows do you use ?

Thanks in advance...

Hi guys, please note that there is a windows-hotfix for the USB spikes:

There is a known issue regarding the functionality of external high-speed USB audio interfaces under Windows 7 or Windows Vista Systems. You can find further info and a hotfix from Microsoft here:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/981214

In case you experience audible artifacts like crackles and dropouts occurring with the interval of 15 seconds while using a USB audio interface, these should be eliminated after applying this hotfix.

Note: This hotfix will not remove the "visible" spikes that you see in your Windows Task Manager, since these are caused by the way of measuring the CPU load and do not really reflect the real CPU consumption in the moments those spikes appear.

Please be sure to download the right hotfix for your particular system. The downloaded file is protected by a password which will be sent to you by email...

I had the same problems with the U46DJ running on W7-64. Solved my probs.
Try to find info about hotfixes for XP...

Regards
