Topic: Automixing - New to the Virtual DJ Software

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I am still learning Virtual DJ so any help is greatly appreciated. I used to use PCDJ and it could autoplay from one deck to the 2nd deck and so on..........Can Virtual DJ do that? I know you can put a playlist together and it will automix and basically load the same deck with the next song, but can you set it to go back and forth from deck to deck automatically.

Like I said any help is greatly appreciated. The reason I ask, is that early in the evening before I start to play, they want some videos played. Although I have setup cue points on the videos, when automixing, they don't always load the way that I set the cuepoints up. Yet if I put the same song in the other deck, it shows up fine (just like I had set it).

I hope to hear from someone soon.

Sorry, dual deck automix is depreciated since VirtualDJ v4 and has been long since replaced with a more powerful single deck system that has more flexible automixing options. It also leaves the other deck spare, allowing you to cue up a song ready for when you wish to take over mixing manually again.

However, you can map a keyboard shortcut or MIDI button to the action automix_dualdeck which will allow you to enable dual deck automix again, however this is depreciated and is not recommended. Pressing the key will turn on the dual deck automixing and pressing it again will revert to the new single deck automix.

For basic instructions on how to add or change a mapping, please see:

But surely that's obsolete now that VDJ can have up to 99 decks.

The cue point does not change, because of auto-mixing in one deck, or two. Maybe you just can't see the cue point because it is smaller. Or, maybe you need to change the auto-mix parameters.

Your regular cue points and your automix cue points are completely separate from one another. You need to edit your automix values. Starting on Page 19 of the User Guide you will find how automix works and detailed instructions on how to make automix entry and exit points. This is all done in the Edit BPM section of each file.
