Topic: Need help with sound channels

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hi there!
I am a new DJ and I use Virtual DJ at the moment, but I can't seem to make 2 output channels for music. I need one for master sound (For the crowd) and one secondary (for my own pre-listen).
I have a Sony Vaio laptop and I only have 1 output channel for my sound. I have bought this external sound card in the hope hope of solving my problem: http://steelseries.com/products/audio/steelseries-siberia-usb-soundcard

My plan was to get 2 output channels and I would use my normal sound output for the master sound and the usb sound card for my headphones. I have tried to adjust some settings regarding the soundchannels, but it only changes the sound in my headphones. It changes whether the sound from deck 1 should come in my right ear and the second deck's sound should come in left ear and if I adjust it, it will be the opposite. I have only got music coming out through the USB soundcard OR the regular soundout,

I cannot make the music from deck 1 come out my speakers, and music from deck 2 in my headphones.

My speakers og my regular sound, as I mentioned, are just my 3,5 mm jack output from my pc og which I have connected with a amplifyer and two speakers.

Can anyone help me with this problem? Thank you very much.

Hi mate

What you can do depends on what version of VDJ you are running with. If you are using the free home version you can use a splitter or Y cable to feed a mono main mix and mono headphone mix. In effect you use the Left chan for one signal and the Right chan for the other. You are not able to use multichan or multiple sound cards with this version. If you upgrade to VDJ pro or look at a controler/soundcard that comes with a budled version(LE) of VDJ then you will be able to use the additional features and run in stereo.

NB The budled LE versions will only work with the equipment/controler that they are sold with. If you try to use the budled LE software with a different setup it will only operate as the free home version!

Best
