Hi everyone... I've been out of the loop for the past year, but I'm upgrading my system to VDJ 7.xx, with a new laptop, and my new Denon MC6000. I have 2 questions:

1) I understand there was a freezing problem with the Denon driver. Should I install from the Denon disc (ver 2.2), or is there a corrected driver posted somewhere?

2) I'm looking at getting a new laptop for all this. I want a 16+ inch screen with illuminated keyboard. I was looking at the SONY VPC12WFX/BC Ci7-740 Quad core with 1GB Nvidia dedicated video RAM at FRY's. Anybody have any thoughts or alternatives to this?

Thanks so much.

how much system ram does the sony have ??

here's a possible ......

ASUS G73 6 gb sys ram ATI RADEON 5870 video card (1 gb video ram)

17" screen , lg backlit keyboard

also .... there's a thing called a desktop ..........

large amounts of ram require 64 bit OS.....

OS wasn't specified ?

It's 4GB RAM, and 32bit OS. What's the model # on yours?

Oh sorry... I mistyped the model number. It should be Sony VPCF13PFX/B. And it IS 64 Bit OS. Here's the description:

Enjoy the powerful performance of a Quad Core Intel® Core™ i7- 740QM processor (1.73GHz ) with Intel® Turbo Boost Technology up to (2.93GHz ) and 4GB of preinstalled system memory. The VAIO® F Series laptop comes pre-installed with Genuine Microsoft® Windows® 7 Home Premium 64-bit. A VIDIA® GeForce® 310M graphics card with 512MB VRAM delivers smooth, responsive gameplay.

Is virtual DJ OK with 64 Bit? For $1,000, this seems like ideal specs for VDJ...???

I have the Denon MC6000 and a older VAIO and run VDJ 7.0.3 without any problems at all Runing video all night long my VAIO just runs a little hot.

Here are my specs
Sony VAIO
Vista Home Premium
Centrino Duo T2250 @ 1.73 GHz 1.73 GHz
2 Gigs RAM
32 Bit OS
1280 X 800 res
Mobile Intel 945GM Express Chipset Family
External Altech lansing "MaxView Presenter" to give a boost to the 50' VGA cable I run to the projector

So it seems any newer version of the VAIO with beter specs should work great for you

All the freezing bugs have been worked out with the MC6000 (at least I have not ran into any)

Update to VDJ 7.0.3

I would upload the MC6000 drivers from the CD that came with the unit then update to the latest firmware here: http://www.denondjforums.com/forum/index.php?f=55&t=14282&rb_v=viewtopic

Here is some mapping you may want to use if you do not like the way the chanel faders are set up

Here is a skin for that mapping

Hope that helps

OK thanks so much! So just confirming... 64 bit OS is OK for Virtual DJ?

Yes, x64 is fine.

As Jam Master Rob says above, you need to update the MC6000 firmware to V1002 to sort a previous bug, and make sure you are running VDJ 7.0.3 as there is a fix for the Denon Asio drivers in that build.

You do not need a super duper machine to run the MC6000, mine works great on a Samsung NC20 netbook.
