I have a couple of MIDI controllers (UC33e and an M-Audio controller keyboard).
When I map certain controls to the knobs on either piece of equipment, turning the knobs makes my Virtual DJ screen freeze. The MP3s continue playing OK, it's just the screen that freezes. I can map the volume controls fine, but the bass/mid/treble all cause the VDJ scrolling to freeze annoyingly.
Any way around this?

That is a known issue with VDJ and hasn't been fixed. I have the same problem.
