Yeah just do it how Joey posted. Then under Record loopback choose the soundcard that has your main board running into it and your good to go.
Your mic input on your laptop isn't necessary anymore, besides I bet you can't record with your line in and onborad mic anyways (unless its a TRUE line in, and most laptops share it) at the same time.........

Let's us know
Huey
PS I made the video but youtube was acting up lastnight so ill try to upload again today.

First, I don't use a laptop, I have a full desk top. Second, I don't use the mic input to the computer, my mics go to the mix board.

I'll try what Joey posted and let you know.

Thanks

There is something very wrong here,

When I try to setup my inputs and click on the "Inputs" option box in "Sound Setup" tab and clicked advance to set up my inputs, it automatically defaults to output, when I set all the in's and out's in this dialog and apply I get a message that the "inputs have not been assigned and will not record audio" as per massage when I reopen advance config.

And it's correct because it doesn't work at all....

Shouldn't there be a dialog in advance for inputs and one for outputs like in must all recording software, it would make it a little more less confusing...

Joey...

I would say this is an error message of your Soundcards ASIO driver. You should open the manufacturers ASIO panel to see if you have to configure some things first before using them in VDJ.

Greets, Heiko

All M-Audio Audio Interface are working properly and are registering all signals from VDJ and mic channel as per image..

I did the same test using my E-Mu 1616m sound card and still the same results, can't get it to record and still the same message after a successful setup with no error messages..

Only after I go back into advance setup do I get a message that no audio could be recorded...

I use this equipment all the time to record through my Ableton Live 8 software with abosolutely no problems at all, so this is strange what is happening..

Could the advance dialog defaulting to output even though you've chosen it from the "Input" option in the sound card menu have something to do with this problem..???

Joey....

Has anybody gotten theirs to successfully record with a Mic input from a mixer or sound card...into VDJ..???

Thanks,

Joey....

YES! I could record an entire band if I wanted to. Look all I do is go into advanced config and assign deck 1 to outputs 1/2 on the audio 8 and deck 2 to outputs 3/4 onthe audio 8 then for record loopback I have the audio 8 picked and inputs on 5/6. Then I hit apply and that's it. I have my main mixing board (Allen/Heath ZED 14) running into inputs 5/6 on the audio 8. That what ever I run through the Allen/Heath goes into 5/6 on the audio 8 which then gets recorded by VDJ.

Its that easy bro I swear. Im gonna try and get this dam video up even if I have to record it again with my phone.
Huey

Edit-@Joey, where's your record loopback in the picture above?? You need that so VDJ knows where to record from. Atleast in my mind I think that's how it works, lol!!

Edit- Yeah your missing the record loopback in both your pictures of the advanced config screen.

Then what's the Microphone For.???, cause I use that instead of Loopback, will try this and see. Will get back on this tomorrow, need to run out for a gig....

Thanks,

Joey...

Here had to use my phone so just holla if there is something you dont understand,

Again I used my phone SO IF there is something you dont understand just give me a shout.

Hope This Helps
Huey

@Joey, basically the way you have it setup VDJ thinks that\'s an actual mic. What your telling VDJ is that that\'s where your microphone is coming in from. So in that same tab choose \"Record Loopback\" in that tab. Now in the drop down next to that choose the soundcard that your INPUTTING your sound or mixing board into. In the drop down next to that choose the input number (1/2, 3/4 5/6 etc.....). Now click apply and started recording!! You can even BROADCAST with it setup like that! Meaning you could have a live band or rappers on air live!!

If you guys need any more help just Holla and ill see what I can do ;-)
Huey

PS, Don\'t forget to check me out tonight at 9pm on Www.radio.virtualdj.com/live2

Ive seen that the video has been watched soooooooo anybody have success yet??

Huey

Well after alot of switching things around, I removed the E-Mu sound card and only used the mixer, I got the Mic to record, but now the music doesn't record and the mic track plays back on the left channel only..

The Music and Mic play good while recording through the speakers L/R

I set up as a two card config and the music was recording good, but no mic recorded...

Any Ideas.??

Joey...

Joey what sound card are you using, the exact name. So I can look it up cause the name is giving a blank (brain fart). I was thinkin is it possible to run your mic into your 2nd soundcard?

We'll get this thing to work

It's a E-Mu 1616m sound card..

One more thing is that in order to hear the 7/8 signal from the master, I need to press the Mic/Line button down to Line in the channel in the mixer..

Thanks,

Joey...

Got it to work, just used loopback Channels 9 & 10 which is the main mix buss in the M-Audio NRV10 Mixer, so it will record anything I throw in the mixer from any channel including outboard effects...

Thanks,

Joey....

I still get this message when I go into advance settings though...???

Nice!! Always get a good feelin when things work, lol! Also not sure if you broadcast but that same configuration should work for that aswell!

Have fun bro!
Huey

I got mine to work too. Just went back to VDJ 6. Problem solved!

Thanks for the effort Huey, I'm going to keep my NRV10 as my main port out, it's really sounding very sweet now and use my E-mu card for my effects program to have more control, and port out to a separate speaker pair...

Thanks,

Joey...

I still get this message when I go into advance settings.
Anybody know why I'm getting this message, how can I fix it...????

Thanks,

Joey....
