I just purchased a mixtrack pro which I am very pleased with and have done all the readings on stickies about computer performance and turning off usb auto off or what not. All of which have been completed which have helped with performance, yet for some reason I still tend to have my MIDI lose connection or what not and stop working as a midi. Not sure what exactly the issue could be. Computer is a tohiba with 2gb of ram 32 bit, and PLENTY of free space on the hard drive. Any help would be much appreciated.

Are you using Windows Vista?
Unfortunately MIDI support in Vista itself has a bug which will cause the driver of a MIDI device to crash and stop responding if too many MIDI messages are transmitted in one go (E.g: Excessive scratching or spinning of the jogwheels.)
The best solution is to upgrade to Windows 7 which does not have this problem. Windows 7 will also give you considerably improved system performance over Vista, which is a very 'bloated' and resource-hungry Operating System.

Damn, just another thing to get in the way of me being able to upgrade to pro vdj. Is there any other some hwat success stories of people being able to work around the problem with vista?

Some controllers such as Denon have special work arounds in the firmware to reduce the jogwheel resolution which resolves the issue. MixTrack may not have this capability.
Vista is not a good operating system choice for DJ'ing. It is very bloated and gives very poor system performance compared with Windows 7 or XP on the same computer.
