Can you record sounds off your pc and use them on virtual dj like record things off your pc and put them straight onto the sample section.

I think that if you click on the portion of the sampler you can point the sound you would like to play, allthough i am not sure.

You do not have a liscence if you are using home edition of VD7 i dont know if you can have diferent samples or just the stock ones.

Can you map a key to record a specific length of sample eg 4, 8, 16 bars, I have never really used the sample record because its too hard to start and stop the recording in the right place
 
Yup that's how you do it. Make sure you have you cbg grid perfect though or else the sample will not record right.
