This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Is there any way to make the font size larger in the recordcase ? and can you change the colors ? I am using VDJ Pro 7, just switched, from pcdj which I have used for the past 6 years. I am really having fun with VDJ, have not gone live with it yet, I am also using the VMS4 and so far I love it.

Thank You

This may help.... changing font, font colour and add logo to browser

Ive tried doing this in Windows 7 several times - it doesn't work using notepad are there any other options

Ive also tried (and still trying to use other editors - still no luck

Use PSPad to edit the XML

Another good XML (in fact any text) editor is TextPad - http://www.textpad.com/

I use this for pretty well all my coding work.

Opening the xml in notepad shouldn't be a problem in win7, I've just tried, remember you must open the zip file to get to the BMP & XML files of each skin you want to alter.

Then for the XML file right click and select notepad.

For BMP right click and select Paint or Photoshop or a similar programm.

Tayla - Finally got it to open in Notepad and another editor but when I hit save and reopen the skin the settings havent changed. Now I have edited a font size before (back around christmas) using a totally different program ( i forget which one) and had no issues. to say the least I am quite baffled.

...funny thing is after i save the file it doesnt ask me to update/archive the folder as it does in your video

If it won't update the zip archive after editing, copy the XML file from the zip file - go into the zip file, select the XML file, copy, go to your desktop and paste the XML file there - edit the file, then copy and paste it back into the zip file.

I have a folder (that I created) in the VirtualDJ directory called "Skin Files"...this is where I store files that I've copied out of the skin zips, so that I can edit them, then I simply copy and paste the file into the correct skin zip.

It seems a bit long winded, but on my Win7 laptop (which doesn't have Winzip), it doesn't allow me to edit the file from the zip.

Hope this helps

Simon

Thanks Simon - Still no luck though. Im so frustrated because this is something soooooooooo simple and just not working. The skin Im trying to increase the font size in the browser section is a multi-use skin called MFF VJ 7.3

THe browser section in the file is at the very top (which I thought was a bit strange as I have always seen it towards the lower half of the file)

I am having no luck in Windows 7 trying to change the font size. Even downloaded Textpad and changed the font size with that program and still no luck. Anyone having any cures for Win 7 text editing? PLEASE

There is no issue editing an xml file in win7. Use Notepad or any other xml editor (like Notepad++).

Thanks for your response, I have used notepad and textpad and have tried it serveral times and still no change in the font size,
must be doing something wrong, I justed purchased the Denon MC-6000 and want to upgrade to VDJ but need to figure this out so my 57 year old eyes can read the recordcase, would you mind going the the steps to edit the text in the recordcase so I can be sure I am not missing something, thank you

When editing files directly from WinRAR, WinZip or front-ends - you will most likely be saving the file somewhere in your temporary folder and not in the archive itself. Extract the archive, edit the file inside and then recreate the archive. Alternatively, drag the XML file from the archive to your desktop, make your changes there and then drag the modified file from your desktop back to the archive.

Thank you that did work, I moved the folder to the disktop then chenged font sized and saved on desktop and then replace the file under skins in my docs, thank you I can see now
