Topic: Help With Denon 3700's and VDJ 7.02 Pro

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hi Guys,

Wondering if anyone here can answer this: Here is my Setup,

2 x Denon DN-S3700's
1 x Denon DN-X1700
1 x Laptop (nice & quick)

I have the 3700's connected currently by midi to the 1700 mixer, have not looked at hybrid midi mode yet. In VDJ I have it set to use four decks, currently deck 1 & 2 are mapped through midi to the 3700's using chanels 1 & 2 on the mixer.

Is there anyway I can also use (in VDJ) decks 3 & 4 assigned to chanel 3 & 4 on the mixer - this was easy before I have the 3700's just using advanced config but with the 3700's connected I can't seem to be able to make it work.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards John Tankard

Hi mate:

I have been trying to solve a very similar issue since awesome VDJ 7 came out but but still haven't had any luck yet. For some strange reason, these units don't seem to work with a left-right deck logic basis on VDJ. So far, I have been able to either map 1 unit to control 4 decks or 2 units to control 1 deck each. It seems it has something to do with how Denon's firmware is not being able to "tell VDJ" to assign one unit to be the left one and let the other be the right one so this way you could assign different virtual decks (2 or more) to each one. In fact, if you go to Config -> Mappers -> Mappers Options -> Deck Assign, you just see two identical "Denon 3700" deck assignable labels (correct?), instead of something like "Denon 3700(1) & Denon 3700(2)" labels. I hope they come with a solution to this scenario as soon as they are able to.

All in all, I love this software and am always suggesting it to other D.J. mates ;)

Cheers, Alex.
