Topic: Best Operating System?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hi,

I'm about to invest in a Hercules RMX console and I've recently bought a new Laptop wich is a 2ghz dualcore with 4Gb Ram so not the beefiest but reasonable. I want to know the very best operating system to run virtual DJ. When i get the RMX i'll probably upgrade the version that comes with it to the full version.

Am i best with Windows 7 or windows XP?
Am I best with 64bit or 32bit?
What Version of Windows is best? Ultimate, Professional or Home?

I'm going to dual boot my machine so i'll have an everyday setup for email and messing and have a dedication DJ setup and I just want the best possible performance.

Also can somebody tell me how much it is to upgrade the version that coem with the Hercules RMX to the full version is?

Many Thanks in advance!

XP Pro 32bit. I run VDJ on this with my 17" Macbook Pro and it's excellent. Only supports up to 4gb RAM but unlesd you're running large video files it's more than enough.

Thanks Keith.

I've no intention to ever run Video. Other than Karaoke that is.

Do I need XP Pro. Would it be better with XP home maybe. I don't want to do any networking or anything with this OS. Just DJing

Doesn't matter really. You can get XP Pro off the web easily enough fully patched up to date and activated since you can't buy it any more :)

I must have about 10 XP Pro licences at home anyway from all the laptops I ever owned so it's not a problem.
