Topic: Hooking laptop up to Pioneer DJM-600

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Alright, so here's the deal. I've been mixing for a while now, but I've never taken the initiative to hook up my laptop to my mixer. I've done a bit of recording on other people's setups, but never my own. So, that being said, can someone give me a step by step (and needed materials, pictures if available) on; A) How to hook up a laptop to the mixer / cd players to JUST play music. B) How to hook up a laptop to record music.

Current Setup:
DJM-600
CDJ 1000 (2 of them)

hi mate, back again i see. heres what you need,

3.5mm jack to 2 phono cable.

you can get these in the likes of tesco, walmart, maplin, currys, dixon, ebay, argos etc. etc. just about any decent store that sellselectronics will have them

plug the phonos into the record output on your mixer and plug the 3.5mm jack into the line in/mic port on your laptop.

configure your laptops sound settngs to use the line in as your recording device.

goto start, accessories, sound recorder....ans hey presto.

thats the simplest way, you might need a few little tweaks here and there in the sound recorder thingy and your eq but other than that your sorted.

Records just fine, now I just need to figure out how to play music off my laptop.
