Topic: Numark Mixdeck Question

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I've had the mixdeck now since august got it at the 2010 dj times expo in atlantic city. I love the controler it has been working for me since day one except right out of the box. For some odd reason the only thing I can not get the jog wheel to do scratch mode. I've tried everything from diffrent setting in the performance to diffrent mapping to making sure the frimware & the VDJ is always up to date. If anyone has the scratch feature working can you tell me what setting & mapping you are using. By the way I've been using VDJ since 4.0 was out & it is the best investment I have ever made.......Thanks .

If it has a scratch button, try pressing this to turn vinyl mode on/off.

Otherwise, go to CONFIG -> Options and check that Jog Mode is set to Vinyl.

Make sure that you have the latest drivers and firmware installed from http://www.numark.com/mixdeck and the latest VirtualDJ Pro v7.0.2: http://www.virtualdj.com/download/updates.html

Try also resetting the mapping back to factory settings. Go to CONFIG -> Mappers, choose the MixDeck in the drop-down list and click the reset to factory settings button at the bottom-left of the Mappers dialogue box.

Thanks it WORKS the problem was the I had the jog in the option set to cd. It pays to ask questionson on the forum. Also guys as I mentioned I've used VDJ for a LONG TIME now & there is no better software out there for me that is. I know that the bottom line is use what best fits you. For me it's VDJ.............THANKS AGAIN.

@DJVito62,
I've been lookin at this unit for a couple of weeks now I all the reviews are mixed. As some one who uses VDJ whats your take on this machine. Pros and Cons etc. etc.............also the one thing I cant find an answer to is, what gen IPODS will work this?? I've read that any of the newer IPODs or Touches wont work.

Thanks for any info an advance
Huey

ok

Ok, I did the upgrade and now I cant use keylock for pitch. Did reset on mappers, updated firmware. Still nada.

beatbreak I'll give you my input but as mentioned people should use what best fits them. As far as the mixdeck I feel it's the best controler for me cause it is raelly is an all in 1 machine. Many companies are putting out a midi controler but there is always one thing missing from that machine, it could be cd players, ipod player & so on. I also feel that the mixer should not be midi cause of the advantage of that is that the mic & aux inputs are true ins & outs. Now as far as the sound quality I feel it's OK, what I mean by this is that I've had better sound quality but again as I said for me it's good enough. For now the mixdeck is for me I'm sure down the line something else will be out but I'll always want a machine that is a true all in one. Now as as far as the mixdeck controling the software guys do not blame the controler nor the software you have to undedrstand that they are two diffrent company & two diffrent pieces of machines. We are the ones that want these two to work work together so I feel it's our job to do that. That means spending lots of time adjusting them so they can work together. For me the mixdeck works great & I did spend & still spending lots of time so I can get the two to work together. For me the mixdeck is doing everything that I want & more..................

Thanks bro I totally understand you. 1 more question though, what generation ipod or ipod touch can you use with the mixdeck??

Thanks for your time and info
Huey
