Hi guys,
So I've been doing a lot of research lately on what to get for my first controller. I am still a beginner, I'm very familiar with VDJ but I want to go to the next step, get a control and have broader idea of what mixing really is, and get out there as I have a few small gig opportunities opened up for me. So I was thinking of either getting the Numark MixTrack Pro or the Hercules RMX, and I really can't make a choice. So exterior opinions would be much appreciated. Also, if you recommend anything else, I would be glad to check it out. I would just rather not go over 450$ since I'm still pretty new to the DJing world.
Thanks,
Dimethyl.

I am a new beginner as well and had the same problem trying to pick between the same controllers. I say your first step is to go to the store to physically feel and potentially test these controllers. The hercules felt pretty heavy like any normal piece of computer equipment and felt very solid and durable. On the other hand, the mixtrack pro is made completely out of plastic and is very light. The mixtrack pro felt as if i had a dj hero game controller infront of me and i just couldnt do it. I decided on the RMX and after a month, i dont regret it.

Thank you, ver useful information there.
I see a lot of people on the forums saying the same thing, and Hercules RMX does seem to have more customer satisfaction. One problem I have though is that there are very few DJ equipment stores in my area. (Boston Area) I just googled it and it only gave one legit location that is 60 miles away from where I live.
Should I go without the trip or would an eventual trip there really be worth it?

The RMX (and it's smaller non-audio equipped sibling - DJ STEEL) are very rugged units, as the plastic chassis is totally enclosed in metal (and not cheap bending stuff either!) - oh and they come with a nice gig bag :)
My personal suggestion would be to talk with the retailer on the phone, regarding returns policy if you find it unsuitable. Most are pretty flexible, as long as you keep the money in their till :)
If you find their return policy acceptable, order it on the phone (or online) and save yourself a 120 mile round trip, but to be honest I don't think you'll be dis-appointed with the RMX.

Thanks for the advice! :)
I think I'll follow on with the advices and go with the RMX. Even though I count on being very careful with my controller, I am a pretty clumsy person, so something more sturdy is always a plus.
I hope to be up in running with very soon, I've been wanting to get to this for so long. Are there good mixing possibilities with the RMX?

I have an older Hercules controller and I've enjoyed using it.
I've recently purchased the Numark MixTrack Pro and I love it.
Great feel, very precise.
