I just bought a new HP dv6-3160 (quad-core phenom II, 4gb ram, 640gb hard drive, Windows 7) and im having an issue with a slight delay throughout VD7. For some reason theres like a .5 second delay clicking on effects, play, pause, etc, when i use my mouspad (when using keyboard shortcuts there isnt a problem) and the wavelength seems choppy and doesnt run as smoothly as it should. My old peice of crap computer with XP ran a much smoother wavelength and there wasnt a delay. Love this program and just want to run it as smoothly as possible. Im no expert at this stuff and its not a huge problem that i will prolly just have to get used to, but any advice or direction (Windows 7 causing problems? Need to reconfigure? etc...) is much appreciated. Thank you.

I also notice some features don't work as well with the mouse, whenever I drag a track onto a deck to load it VDJ freezes for a few seconds before responding again. Use keyboard shortcuts whenever you can, or get a midi controller, they work really well and some of them like the Hercules control MP3 E2 are pretty cheap.
There are some things you can do to make your computer run faster, though.
First, under the start menu search for systempropertiesperformance. Open the folder and turn off all visual effects. This makes Windows 7 look like windows XP, but saves a lot of resources as the graphics are much simpler.
Also, under the start menu search for msconfig. Open the folder and go to the tab labeled 'startup.' Disable programs that you don't want to start running as soon as windows starts (some programs like AIM configure themselves to automatically), and this also saves a lot of system resources as you aren't running so many programs at the same time.
Finally, turning off the wifi switch saves some resources, although you won't be able to use netsearch if you do.
Hope that helps

Worked like a charm thanks a million. I got rid of a lot of bloatware too and that helped. Also i had it on a funky resolution and once i changed it to one that was more suited to my screen size it also made a difference. Thanks again much appreciate the help
