It's an Apple restriction (surprise surprise)
There are quite a few keys on the Mac side that can't be assigned, but it's not a VDJ issue.
Surprisingly it's exactly the same answer you got in March and nothing has changed:

Thanks for your response...There was no version 7 in March and with every update there are usually some improvement or something new added..so I had to ask again.

No problem. This is not something that can be changed by Atomix unfortunately. It is a pain in the ass and one of the reasons I put XP 32bit on my Macbook Pro and run the Windows version of VDJ

Funny thing happen...I got all those exact keys remap, left shift to f11, right shift to f12, right command to f10 and right option to f9, and this was done by the creator of keyremap4macbook..just for me. Guess what? They all work every where except in virtual dj. In vdj when i try to map any one of the new keys I get VKEY_109 instead of f9 ...VKEY_110 instead of f10 an so on.. All I want to do is when the cursor is in the browser window I want those keys to still be able to be active on the panel. Hope understand. If there is another way let me know plz
