Topic: Preview a song while using external mixer?

Is it possible? When I used VDJ as my only mixer, I enjoyed using the preview function (bottom of VDJ 7 screen). Now I use an external mixer and am using the MIXER'S ability to preview the song. This requires that I load the song into a deck. I liked VDJ's approach to preview the song without loading it into a deck. I have not yet been successful in previewing music through the headphone-jack of my Mac while using both USB ports out to my mixer. Any thoughts here?
