Topic: Thumb nails for clipbank gone with VDJ7 - Page: 1

I've been using VDJ for several years, 5.0 up, so my comp is set up to run the program with minimal crashes. I'm having issues with VDJ6 & VDJ7. I've just upgraded my OS to Win7 and increased my RAM to 4 GIG hoping to resolve the problems...not.
First, I have used ambient videos for the clipbank with success until version 6 & 7. They still play, but I have to load them everytime I use one to know which is which. When I load the effect, the spot on the 'ClipBank Page' just goes gray. No thumbnail. Can't tell which is which.
Also, having issues with the Sonique Visualizations. I've used them for years and had weeded out all the 'bad' ones. But with this version, weird things are happening. The visual will freeze on the program screen. To get it unfroze, I have to go to 'set', 'video', click and reclick the the 'activate' spot and click and reclick the 'use window' or 'video card' spot.
Also, when searching for a karaoke track (I have both CDG+G files and Zipped files) there are certain tracks that are in the folder, but won't show up when searching with the program. I have compared those tracks with tracks that are searchable and can't find any reason why it can't find them.

Anyone have any idea how resolve these issues?

Did you reinstall DX9 ?

Had a user call me up the other day with a similar problem, his zipped utility files for karaoke would only show 5 out of 90 but as soon as we unzipped them the whole folder showed the full 90.
 
I have been having similar problems with the clipbanks.

For some strange reason since later version of 6 and also 7 if I switch clipbanks sometimes the area which shows the thumbnails is completely blank. The only way I can get them back is to switch skins and then back again or restart VDJ.
 
Thanks Tayla for the info. I reinstalled DVX9 and the visuals work good. Still can't get the ambient vids to show up as thumbnails in the ClipBank section. Any ideas on that?

Also, can you tell me what difference there is between running VDJ7 on Win7 32 or Win7 64?
 
I run win7-64 and it runs fine on pc , but still use vista on the gig lappy (if it ain't broke why fix it, lol) the only difference i have read is that it's sometimes more difficult for other software/hardware to get drivers for 64, hopefully someone with a bit more knowledge will step in and explain better.

sorry, did you install c++ as well. Scott has a link i believe in the plugin section that you can checkout if certain applications are not running properly.
 
I never have before. Not familiar with it. Do I get that from Microsoft? Couldn't find the link in the download/plugins.

Thanks TexZK. I've installed the C++. I still can't get the thumbnails of the ambient videos to show up in the clipbank section. :( Anyone know how to fix this??
 
Just reload your clips.
 
try installing v7 again and see if that cures the problem.

Have you tried installing the klite codec pack, stab in the dark but worth a try if you haven't.
 
Paul, i don't think the k lite codec pack is needed anymore ,

the list of default codecs is very comprehensive .......



Cyder said just reload the clips ..... i have had problem clips and they seemed to sort themselves out

when i reloaded them , so try that

also changing file formats works if you can use conversion software

I have reloaded them, same result. After the weekend, I'll try reinstalling VDJ. Otherwise, I'll try converting them. Don't understand why they don't work now. They did in earlier versions of VDJ. Didn't start messing up until later versions of VDJ6 and 7.

I also had this issue and just reloaded the clips, after doing so shut down VDJ and open again things should be good for the gig. I use XP which I won't change because it's working great!
 
After tonight, I may be going back to xp. At least I knew what to expect. The gig tonight was...hold my breath and hope it works...crashed on me 2 times over simple stuff. And I'm going back to the early version of VDJ6.
 
Just wondering if this might be a better library download? DXSDK_Jun10.exe
 
What is that file for? What kinda library?
 
it's for the latest DirectX update which includes the C++ stuff the others were posting about
