i have a numark idj3 mixer with the virtual dj software home free version. i cant seem to set it up to use my headphones and speaker system. In other words i have tried alot of configurations and i still cant get the music to play out of my speakers and another song to play in my headphones. My set up is as follows i have a computer speaker system and my headphones im running a splitter out of my laptop that i connect my headphones and speaker too. I guess the config i pick on the software is wrong because i always get some weird combo like music mixed together in the phones and speaker or something other than the correct set up which should be music in speaker and different music in headphones so i can beatmatch and all. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!!

If you're splitting the out put that goes to the speakers your headphones will get exactly what the speakers are getting... gotta get an interface with separate outs for headphones and speakers

Basically a box that is USB or firewire that will be like an external soundcard. This will allow you to have multiple outputs (ie. one for the speakers, one for your headphone cues). There are also interfaces/controllers that will basically be like a USB DJ mixer, might as well have some faders and buttons if you're going to invest. Check the Hercules RMX, it does all that plus it can do virtual vinyl if you got real decks. There are a bunch of products like this. Check em out online or pop into guitar center or something

Just saw you have the Numark, thats your interface. You have to set it up in the config menu. You just have to figure out a way to go from the RCA outs on the back of it to your computer speakers. Don't use your computer's soundcard
