without condemming or condoning - personally i think the people who have been sued for it over the years should get together with lawyers and private investigators and go over every employee who has worked for the RIAA and i guarantee they could end up looking like complete and utter fools with the number of their kids and employess who have used a P2P filesharing network for illegal downloads.
artists need to get paid for their music. that's a given. but the self designated "music police" and the artist's label make more off of a cd than the artist does anyday, even if they do have a really good contract.

"the industry group said it would settle for $25,000, with the money going to a charity for struggling musicians" All I have to say is that if your a struggling musician your not getting any money because your shit! you should get a real job! the world doesn't need any more musicians anyway... the world needs artists who are inspired and create something worth listening to, that makes you feel something! oh and it sucks she was singled out, but unfortunately it is a necessary evil as the music industry needs to create fear in those that download songs for free until they find a real solution.
support your scene! buy underground tracks so artists keep producing the tracks you love!

People know by now not to download. People know it's illegal. She knew it was illegal and got caught. Yeah, 1.5 million is excessive, but she knew better. They are clearly making an example out of her.

I know how to end this case. This lady must upload $1 image in high resolution PDF format and RIAA can download it 1500000 times. That would be fair compensation for so called "damage".
