Topic: Buying decent microphone

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hello,

I'm about to getting my first Karaoke Gig, customer wants to have karaoke hour before I start playing music videos. I have never do that before, currently I have vci-300 and laptop. Later I probably will buy denon MC-6000 controller.

What is a good microphone for karaoke? Also I may try to use microphone for recording my voice and copy sample it on deck (as VDJ 7 now supports that).

Microphone should be wireless, working well with VCI-300 and MC-6000 controllers. Durable for at least several years.

Any suggestions?

Hi mate

There are various wireless units that would cover your needs. I would take a look at the Shure SLX units with SM58 mic. Quite expensive but very reliable and great sound quality.

At the cheaper end of the scale have a look at some of the Trantec units. Some come with 2 mics.

I would look for UHF units as the VHF ones are more easily effected by noise and interfearence. I have also found that the UHF units are less power hungry and can run on a pair of lithium AAs for ages. many of the VHF ones use a 9Volt PP3 and run flat in a couple of hours.
