I know this is premature for most as some of us are just figuring out how to set up 4 decks on our VMS4's (by the way, this has been accomplished, read the VMS4 discussion thread), but just thought I'd throw this out there: How would you set up and control 6 decks, 10 decks etc. The VDJ7 has a 6 deck skin, but how the heck would you control that many decks or more on the VMS4? The only way I could think of is to have channels 2 and 3 set up for the left and right decks and just click the deck # on the skin to select and control each deck. Could get noisy and confusing with multiple songs playing through the same deck and quite honestly, 4 decks will probably be all any of us will ever need, but I was just curious about the possible ways this might be done or if it is even feasable. One thing is for sure, I don't think ANYONE will ever use anywhere near 99 decks so that huge # of available decks is not very practical or useful, but who knows, in 99 years we may evolve and have 99 hands and develope our brains to the point that we can do multiple operations at ounce, but we would do so by sacrifising stimulus and sensory distractions Like the Kelvins (Star Trek fans out there should know the episode I speak of).

I agree and yes it may be confusing, but i think the users of six or more are just using them for samples or vocals to add to a song while it is playing. just to enhance the song, basically for mixing purposes. i believe the majority of mobile dj will not be mixing that way. I will however use the 4 decks on individual channels of my x500 mixer, which is capable of using six channels. I have a gigaport AG external sound card which is capable of 8 individual channels which is perfect for running 4 decks individually. so i can set up three dance songs and have the fourth deck sitting and waiting to see if i need to play a slow song or go back to one of the other instead and keep on more dance song going. So its just more flexibility. The six or more would be more suitable for club dj in my opinion. Private parties do not want mixing and scratching they want you to fade perfectly to the next song they requested. But i usually do my mixing in the beginning of my parties as people are walking in, just to set the tone for the night then i will start playing the request.
