ok to those who have made a demo cd, what/how did you go about it,

did you make multple mp3's of mixes
did you do specfic genre mixes

im thinking of doing mp3's of mixes each with a certain genre(my normal genre), then one with top radio/40s mix.
i was asked to make a demo a couple times by couple different vendors and never got around to it, guess i should finally make one. any help suggestion appreciated. thanks

Haven't done one myself but one advice is to do some drops whit your DJ name or drop a line once and a while that you are listening to a demo cd made by....

I think it was here on this forum that someone made a demo cd and passed out. when he visited one of the places they where playing his demo cd...

I would say what you have wrote down would be good. Do a couple of mixes by genres then go back and then do a mix with all genres. That would show that your diverse, well to me it would anyway, lol.

Just my thoughts and good luck

Im laying the foundation for my new demo cd right now. I'm hoping to have it completed by Friday! In the past I would just practice a playlist and then sit down and record the whole thing at once. I think this time I am going to do it in 3 - 4 sections, each containing between 5-7 songs. I can't decide if I want to break up the individual sections into genres or just keep it switched up like I usually do. I'll be posting this one for you all to listen and help me with. I'm supposed to be getting a copy to a bar owner soon to see if He is going to hire me or not.

thanks guys..good info.

I make my own cds on the regular. I sell some & give some away. You can listen to them on my site. www.djaceinthemix.com

I am expanding to all genres.

I'd say rotate the genres as you would your regular sets if you were to be playing live but it also ultimately depends on who the demo is for because if it's for as some places have strictly certain format's only.... http://www.reverbnation.com/djedouble
