What exactly is the point of the Karaoke plug in? What is it supposed to do?

Someone is wanting me to do a Karaoke night soon. I have plenty of songs on my system but I was wandering about reverb/echo for the microphones. Does our wonderful program VDJ allow us to put some effects onto the microphones? Or is the only way to do it, by putting the mics through a seperate mixer with an effects unit?

I think the karaoke plug in is just a singer management list to let the next person in line to sing that they are up next (so don't run to the bathroom)..you could put effects on the MP3/G file but not on the vocals. Maybe when AA gets their mic issue sorted out on the VMS 4 it will include some nice effects...lol . So yeah a external mixer and vocal processor is the way to go.

Use the automix section on the right for playing tracks between singers, the other deck you can use for setting up the karaoke track.

I also use the automix section to have my k/tracks out ready (at bottom of pile) and then just drag them over to the deck when needed.

You need to use an external mixer for your mics though.

i did karaoke in the recent past but stopped ....

i think if you do karaoke you need a good PA type mixer that can acomodate at least 4 mics maybe more

As far as I'm aware the karaoke plug in is not a 'singer management list'. When I use it, it just displays the words to the karaoke track in the bottom right hand window. As the words appear in the video window I really don't get it. I'm dying to know what the plug in does in case it's something really good that I could use.

Does anyone use this plug in as it should be used?

Honestly, you haven't managed to engage the plugin properly, all your seeing is the external monitor display that you haven't yet dragged over.

The plugin is for remembering who's next and what songs next, although knowone uses it as it's too basic and does a poor job.

There are a lot of people hoping that something for karaoke will be part of the next update.

Thanks for that Charlie.
How do i engage the plug in properly then?

How about open the User Guide and go to the 2 page section that talks all about the Karaoke plug-in and how it works ??

I feel like I've just been told off by teacher! :-)

Why not have a karaoke mode...where one side of the deck is karaoke and the other side is for dj stuff..and an additional space on the left side of the main list.... as a rotaion/keychange/name of singer...and the ability to save of the singers list ...similar to how sho presenter saves the singers songs ....of what they sang the last time, you had a show...so 2 seperate modes kj/dj and just dj.....we all like to mix in music to our karaoke shows but all of us want a interface worthy of the vdj name.

My karaoke plug in doesn't seem to have installed properly. I've done a search fo it and can't find it anywhere. Does anyone please have a link to where I can download it?

Doesn't work on a Mac if thats what you are trying.

Just noticed that mine wasn't working either on Windows7 - installed DirectX 9 and the runtime libraries and all is well again.
