Hi guys got a couple of questions about netsearch.
Am I right in saying that any music that you get through netsearch never actually 'belongs' to you, i.e. if you decide not to continue with your subscription you can no longer use these tracks?
Does the browser differentiate music that has been obtained via netsearch from other music on the hard drive or do you give netsearch its own directory? What about when using filters or playing from history?
I have found that to get the best performance from my laptop when playing live I disable wireless and my AV. If you guys are using this during a live performance, I guess to get a track that you have been asked for that you dont have, do you find any problems with sound issues?
Also, how 'upfront' is the music that is available. Does it contain promo's or simply limited to music that has reached general release?

Netsearch files have different icons in the browser until you download them to cache. They then appear at normal 'local' files but have a .vdjcache extension. Yes it has its own directory for download files. Filters and history work the same as normal files.

To download files during a gig obviously you will need an internet connection. However if you have already cached the file you do not need an active connection. Permissions to for the vdjcache files must be refreshed every 30days. VDJ normally does this automatically for you or you can manually refresh the permissions.

Hit a miss. GrooveShark is not a promo service but it does contain some tracks prior to general release, especially for us in the UK.

I've sat around with friends and had them just throw out random songs and I gotta say NetSearch found it 99% of the time. Not always label quality but it did find the correct track. As far as downloading live I would say that boils down to your individual system cause not all are created equal.
Hope that helps a little more

Matt you can definitely download on the fly at gigs
if your system has the av off and no connection in order to work properly then i would say to invoke some additional
system tweaks that you may not be using now .... and then try the netsearch again
if you need help i would be happy to help via pm and i'm sure others would also

I got to my gig early last night and netsearched about 20 must play videos I don't have, right clicked them and downloaded them to the cache (first time I tried this). The rest of the night all the videos loaded really slow, cashed ones and the ones on my external HD.
This morning the cached vids load faster than the one on my ext HD but they both load faster than they did last night, but I am not running video out either.
So forgive me for the questions but what is the cache? Is that my PCs memory or my RAM?
If I cache too many songs will it cripple my system or slow it down!!??
It was a 4 hour gig last night and when I got home and took my laptop out of the case it was very HOT!! I have not had this before. I put a fan on it and cool'd it down ASAP but it took a while to turn back on. I guess putting it in a padded case right after a gig is not the best thing.
Here are my specs.
My Laptop:
Sony VAIO
Vista Home Premium
32 Bit OS
Centrino Duo T2250 @ 1.73 GHz 1.73 GHz
2 Gigs RAM
44.2 (out of 105.7) Gigs free space currently
Mobile Intel 945GM Express Chipset Family (for external video I go through a Powered Maxview presenter Via VGA to VGA)
USB connections:
Off Laptop: NI Audio2DJ, 4 way powered USB hub
Off of hub: Hercules controler, 2TB Ext HD, Wireless mouse
Thanks for any answers or advice.

Does netsearch support karaoke?

Not too much, but you can find some karaoke songs via netsearch. I would like to see a "KaraokeNetSearch" in the future

NetSearch songs are cached to your computer's hard disk drive (My Documents\VirtualDJ\Cache)
Having too many will not slow your computer or cause adverse performance (Unless your hard disk is full.)

hallo how download to cache from virtual dj 7 ?
Posted Tue 14 Dec 10 @ 7:35 pm
Right-click on the song in the NetSearch search results and choose the option Download to cache.
The cached song can then be found in the NetSearch folder.

Is it possible to use the NETSEARCH feature abroad? I am currently in france for a few weeks, and the files don't seem to be able to re-validate.
