I'm looking into buying some headphones and my price range is about 100-250 USD. I was looking at the monster beats studio today at Best Buy and the sound was amazing. It was comfortable and the earpads swiveled so that you could listen easily only with one ear (ideal for DJing). My only reservation is, every site that I have been to has not recommended it. Nobody has said anything bad about it but it never comes up on any DJ equipment site. I'm wondering if this is because they aren't considered DJ headphones? Any input on these headphones or any other headphones that you might recommend would be appreciated!

I agree, you can pretty much use any set of headphones. I have a friend who uses the ear drop type of headphones. Make sure they are comfortable, sound good, sturdy and make sure the ear cushions are made with quality material. For most headphones that will be the first thing to become worn out.

The beats are good headphones, but they aren't built as sturdy as a good pair of DJ cans. Also, DJ phones tend to have less highs and more mids and lows to help mixing.
I'd suggest going to Guitar Center or something and trying out some real DJ phones before buying those.
