How can I install sound effects such as loop and wahwah on my Mac laptop; do I need any special software to open these files?

Make sure you download the Mac version of effects by clicking the apple disk icon. PC versions will not work on the Mac.
Once you open the Mac effect zip archive you should find a bundle file which you will need to copy to the relevant plugins folder (Documents\VirtualDJ\Plugins\SoundEffect).

Where is this folder? I can not find it on my mac!

click on your hard drive>documents>virtualdj>plugins>soundeffect (dump them in this file after you have unzipped them)
